14 Valentines Day 7 - Recs: Sam and Vala

SG-1 is a weird assed fandom for me, because on the one hand, I really do want to watch the entire series one of these days, because I thoroughly enjoyed season 1. On the other, at this point I've read so much fic about characters I've never met I'm a little afraid to actually meet them in canon. What if I don't like them as much as I do in fic?!

I'm never sure if I want to rec the show to people, because I LOVE it, but it's also frequently a terrible, stupid, flag-waving, "God Bless America" mess of a show. M and I are finishing up season 8 on a full rewatch. And somehow, I have missed ALL of this fic, even though Sam is one of my favorites ever, and I am always looking for Sam/ Cam/Daniel fic. I think I went right from this canon into Due South, so I was swept up in Fraser love and never got to the fic part of SG1

Which is part of the reason why I've never had a chance to finish watching it, because I keep wanting to write entire doctoral THESES about the US's vision of itself in that show. I really, really <3 the characters, but it is a HOT MESS at some points, isn't it?

And YAY for being able to give you a list of entirely new-to-you fic! I'm always a little unsure when I post recs for fandoms that I only casually drabble in, because what I read is just so much a matter of "this fic was here when I was in the mood to read that fandom, otherwise I probably would never have opened the tab!" and so it winds up being this really WEIRD mixture of things that EVERYONE in the fandom has already read and obscure stuff that usually make people look at me at little side-eyed.
