I love the snark and friendly rivalry between Hikaru and Jim, think the songs are amazing, and so love the setup, m'dear.

This is an absolutely brilliant idea, and the music adds a space age/jazz age flavor to the crisp, snappy, scene-setting prose. The opening is GREAT--it drops me right into the mood of the piece. I also love how you did a gender-switch with the sexism of the original (the band ladies swatting Bones on the butt is LOL).

e pats Hikaru’s arm in a gesture of brotherly love - though it feels less like The Waltons and more Cain and Abel

I adore Jim and Hikaru as somewhat competitive best friends, and Sulu's hard edge contrasts nicely with Jim as a bit of a preening softie.

He tweaks his bangs to cover his eyebrows and blows himself a kiss. “Well, hello, Princess,” he purrs.

Of course Jim is deeply impressed with...himself as a woman. Don't fall in the water, Adonis.

The replicator did good with its ‘women’s-wear for men’ menu:
