So wonderful to see a timestamp for the beach verse!!! This was, as they often are, so sad and yet lovely. Even then, Jensen's life was so impoverished. Love seeing the start of his friendship with Danni. This verse defines poignant :-)

Just beautiful. Heartbreaking, too.

I remember catching fireflies as a child. It's amazing how innocent that time in our lives was. Also, this story makes me appreciate my parents. They weren't perfect by any means, but I know they loved me and tried hard to be the best parents they could.

That's the sign of a great fic. It makes you think about things.

Thanks for sharing, hon!

Thanks! Me, too, fireflies. We used to call them 'lightening bugs' sometimes. Now my girls are all exited the first time they spot them. It's the official start of summer.

Jensen's mom makes me want to slap her. I guess it's difficult for me to understand how someone could treat their own child in such a way, but I know that some people just can't help it. Just one little change in her mentality and things could have been so different for Jensen.

My heart hurts for Jensen. He so obviously wants to please his mother and do everything perfect to gain her affection. But he's also starved for attention and it's so good that he has Danneel.

I love what Danni's mom, Dana, said about the fireflies.

The ending is so sad:

It feels like one goodbye too many.

It broke my heart. But, I know that Jared will be there one day soon and that Jensen will get stronger and open his heart little by little.

A great installment to this beloved 'verse! ♥

Thanks so much. I think I mentioned the mom is loosely based on a real person (not my mom) so yeah, unfortunately, folks like this exist.
