For non-UK friends, the House of Lords is currently debating a bill that will drastically change the NHS. Basically the entire NHS is against this bill, it's massively unpopular with pretty much everyone I know and

Yeah. I probably would have died without the NHS, and I certainly would have been in even greater pain than I was for years, so the whole thing makes me want to cry.

The NHS has basically been a beacon of hope for me throughout my childhood; that a government could provide healthcare for an entire country just sounded like magic. It's obviously not perfect, but gdi it's pretty freaking great.

I definitely had a tiny little weep about it earlier. In public, too, my favourite thing.

Not gonna help any, but just because I know you sometimes keep track: I'm currently insured - finally made it on my dad's federal insurance, which under Obama's Shiny New Healthcare Plan I can stay on all the way through my birthday in June (that's right, three months from now) instead of having aged out of my parents' insurance, oh, years ago. So I will have had 6 months of insurance this year, instead of none. And this is EXCITING, this is GENUINELY A GOOD THING, AN IMPROVEMENT. What the actual hell?

I can't do a thing, as far as I know, but I can sit here and think of you. Because yeah - this isn't how it's supposed to work, and I've loved that at least there this ISN'T how it works. I'm not reading any of the links, because I just can't deal with one more thing I can't do a thing about, so let me know if there is action I could be taking. <3
