Part of me is wondering why *they* have 45 copies of the movie. Did they steal them, or something?

I imagine they're ex-rentals. The Blockbuster near my office is closing down, and they're selling their rentals both in and out of the packaging. They currently have approximately 300 unboxed copies of Hotel for Dogs.

I'm tempted to go to the clerk and ask, "Do you have Hotel for Dogs?" But I'm pretty sure he'd never stop punching me in the face.

It's not gone forever, it's just closing stores again. Red Box is kicking their asses for brick-and-mortar rentals.
