Khan recommended immediate trip to Tibet. Cranston already there, will be dismissing servants shortly. It's an alibi that's sound enough, though not bullet proof. So long as Khan is pleased to learn that The Shadow, as Cranston, has left, and does not see any of his operatives poking their noses about, he should suffice to continue with plans ( ... )

Inwardly, there's something amusing about seeing the old man rising with glasses sliding down his nose to give him a slightly bookish appearance. The younger man does not betray the brief moment though as he inspects the doorway, keeping to the shadows. It's his intention for the guise of Allard to remain unconnected to The Shadow. It's his best bet to keep free from dealing with Khan while the Old Tiger is on the trail ( ... )

Quick to recover his breath, the old man nods and takes the cloak. He doesn't seem to have been injured in the fight, and looks ready for more, but he'll take the opportunity to put away his glasses, check his ammunition, and pull on the brace of automatics he's brought.

He is fortunately oblivious to any amusement on the part of his alternate.

From an opposite corner of the room, the younger Shadow procures his sable hued garb, donning it, and more effectively disappearing into the darkness of the room. He pauses in the doorway, his black mass blending into the room from anyone viewing the scene from the hallway, but from within the room, he is silhouetted. There's a quick appraisal of the hallway, doors have remained shut, most likely from fear of continued gunfire, and then he's off to a nearby window that leads to a dark fire escape. It provides him with the veiled departure he desires.

There is no threat posed to him once he is on his way, and in fifteen minutes, he has disposed of the black garments in a safe location, and is making his way casually along the crowded sidewalks of New York, unmolested, and as Allard.

The older Shadow regards the carnage calmly as he dons his own cloak and hat. He can dimly sense his alternate moving off, then he reels in his mental powers, attempting to make himself as psychically inconspicuous as possible. This attack proves the location is known, and it's hard to say what information Khan may have gleaned through his minions.
There's a long night of work ahead.

Not long after the fight has ended but before the police are able to attend to the calls, a small, slinking form slips into the room. It inspects the carnage, the dead forms, and where they lay about the room. All this is relayed to Kha Khan, and from his golden throne nestled deep in the heart of Chinatown, he narrows his eyes, frowning. The attack was merely a test of The Shadow, and while he is not particularly surprised by the results, he was observant enough to know that the lay of the dead men indicated more than one fighter. With both Ming and Myra now out of reach, it would be up to a careful placement of pawns in order to distinguish the true level that this new, unknown threat posed.
