Debriefing

Myra now had more teacakes than she knew what to do with. As such, she now made an effort to offer choices when she had her rare visits, and today was no exception. On the kitchen counter sat eight different cakes, each carefully wrapped, though a few had obviously been opened at some point. The usual places were set at her coffee table as she ( Read more... )

While her invitation was tersely accepted via PINpoint, The Shadow arrives somewhat late, clad in black again. Clearly he has been keeping busy in her absence. He appears in the living room, removes his hat, and gives several wheezing, rattling coughs.
"Welcome back. Had Vincent briefed you on the Asian situation already?"

Right down to business it is then.

"I knew about the Japanese invasion. I didn't know my parents would be on business in the area at the time of it." Myra motions to the largely improved selection of tea. "I finally had the chance to go through my mail, that's what started it. My father had been forced to write a message trying to lure me to his usual office. He managed to hide details to their true location in the letter without anyone noticing." She motions to the table where an opened envelope and said letter are currently placed. "I notified The Chief once I returned, and we both suspect the same character from previous troubles, but there's no definite trail, yet."

Tea may aid him in making the transition to socializing, but she has caught him fresh from work, and therefore his mind revolves around it. There is an underlying thought to the question, however, one that is painfully personal.

A weary gaze passes over the tea and the letter, while his mind processes the ramifications. He is ignorant of whatever fate befell the parents of the Myra of his world. It had nothing to do with him, and at the time he was equally worried about the gradual build towards war, if less informed than his alternate. He sinks slowly into a chair, the same he last sat in when they were unexpectedly visited by a demon, although the furniture may have been moved since. "I... didn't think to research how your father might be involved." His tone is difficult to read, his face an expressionless mask. He feels some remorse, and some annoyance with himself for neglecting such a detail.

Myra waves off The Shadow's statement gently.

"I imagine one individual is hard enough to track in the events leading up to war. He's certainly involved now, though. He's trying to get the US to take action in the situation in Manchuria. His words have weight in affairs concerning China and its neighbors. Especially after having been liberated from a prison camp in the occupied area."
