Next to a pile of books, lay a Dane. He was back in the library, this time a bit more determined. This particular Dane was exhausted, having spent the entirely of 3 days doing little else but going through every single book in it for something that was even remotely informative, or even entertaining. He was about half-way through. Every book was approached in the same way: Look at the copyright date, look at the index, search the table of contents, and then skim the chapters. Nothing that helped him determine where they were, of course. He didn't really know what he was expecting, but the fact was - he was looking.
Nothing entertaining either, unfortunately. He couldn't handle such dull books that were either meant for children, full of outdated data, or full of the most boring stories he'd ever laid his eyes on. He'd made up better stories while drunk.
Again, he wasn't sure what he was looking for. Anything, a tidbit. Something about engineering or plumbing maybe; he still remembered Dr. Huan's words about whatever was 'below' being interesting. Or anything to make the days go by just a little faster. Of course, if all went well he and Finland and anybody else who wanted to join were definitely going to make the days go faster one way or another. The right time was close, he could feel it. This place needed shaking.
Finally he slept, sprawled out on a surprisingly cozy sofa with books piled precariously all around.
Oh -- he hadn't bothered to put anything else back on the shelves, so watch your step, especially around the doorway. The most boring books he'd tossed into the hall in disgust.
