"Woah!" Ashley exclaims, reacting to the sudden appearance of Druitt. She points her Bugzappers in his direction but just barely manages not to fire; not that she's sure it would do any good.

"Where the hell have you been?" she asks, frowning.

Henry looks over his shoulder and sees Ashley aiming at Druitt. He felt a small jolt of relief as he realized no bug was going to get past John to munch on his daughter. If he was going to stay, at least he could be helpful. Digging in his duffel, he grabbed one of the extra devices and tossed it his way. "Here," he said in warning. "Setting's already on high, just aim and splat."

He smiled as he realized the odds may have turned in their favour. Yes, there were still a billionty bugs trying to do a dine-and-dash, but they had a psychopathic denizen from hell. Sort of.

John shook his head, trying to concentrate, "I was busy. I seem to have missed something however, anyone care to enlighten me?" he asked as he noticed a bug crawling up onto his shoe. He pointed the small metal rod at it and pulled the trigger, the bug started to vibrate and exploded into a ball of goo. "Now this I like," John turned in a flash of his coat and started firing rounds of the energy weapon as fast as Ashley.

Kate also had the point of her weapon aimed squarely at Druitt on instinct, finger frozen on the trigger. She relaxed....just barely when her synapses indeed informed her that he was not an enormous tower of bugs.

She folded into the fray easily, flanking Ashley as they made their slow progress towards the main lab.

"Hey Jack, think we could hitch a ride?" Kate snapped off.

(okay, I'm bringing in Nikola and Helen so we're all condensed into one thread)

John reappeared in the lab down on level D. He was facing the door when he arrived and noted immediately the barrier from which scraping noises could be heard. The bugs were close.

Turning around he immediately spotted Helen and Nikola. Stepping towards them John commented, "I heard you could use a rescue?" The corner they were in was dark which made it hard for John to see how close they were to each other. He thought his eyes were just playing tricks on him.

Nikola started at John's abrupt entrance. "We could use a way out," Nikola commented, getting to his feet and then helping Helen up.
