Ugh, I just found out that the McDonalds a short walk from my house was the site of a violent attack on a transwoman in which the store employees not only did nothing to help her, but actually stood back and filmed it on their phones. Well, I know where I'm not going to eat anymore... (not that I eat at McDonalds anyway, but I'm always going there ( Read more... )

I know! I heard some customers were dragging the lady around by the hair. This is a fairly progressive area, too, so you really don't expect that kind of crap.

I actually read news on this before reading your post. It's a completely heinous hate crime :/ I can't believe no one helped that poor woman when she was having seizures x.x

Will the cell-phone video be useful for prosecutions?

I haven't read or seen anything about this yet other than your post. In the absence of details, it is possible that the attack was violent enough that the other customers were afraid to intervene. First rule of rescue is don't become a victim yourself; its possible that the best course of action for onlookers was to record enough to legally nail the perps to the wall by their private parts later.

A manager intervened, and so did an elderly female customer. But the rest of the employees did nothing at all. I doubt they were recording it for evidence, although they'll probably try to spin it that way. It's sad, but these days, whenever there's a fight in a classroom or a car accident on the road, some idiot will be there taking video to upload to Youtube.

Ok, now having read a news article about it--WTF???

The attackers were teenage girls, you can't tell me there was NOBODY in that restaurant who could not at the least have *intimidated* the bitches to stop them.

I haven't watched the video itself--somehow doing so seems wrong to me.
