I'm cheating on this journal entry by cutting and pasting from an email sent to a friend and then embellishing it--but I call it multitasking/efficiency

I always read your posts! I seldom post in my own LJ anymore, and rarely comment on anyone else's, but I faithfully read my f-list every day, sometimes checking more than once a day :)
I think you are doing all the right things to make your diet plan work. To me the right amount of sleep is as important as your diet. I remember the glory days of my youth being able to function somewhat successfully on just a few hours of sleep. I actually enjoyed the dangerous giddiness of it. As I grew older I found that was a foolish way to do things as we need to rest the mind and body.
Getting the proper hours of sleep gave me a brighter outlook on my day and allowed me to plan the direction I needed to go in. I feel healthier and at the end of the day I am able to look back on what I accomplished and can plan for changes I need to make to make the next day better. I still get about 6 hours and I know that isn't enough, but that is an improvement of what I used to sleep and it shows.
The best diet secret I have is not eat after 8pm and knock the late night snacking. Good Luck! You are doing all the right stuff!
Thanks Jeff :) I HAVE to eat something before bed (or at least, I think I do) and so I just plan that in. I don't think the time of day you eat matters much--it's more about the total calorie intake compared to how many you burn. A deficit is a deficit, even if I eat all my calories right before bed :)
Last night, I had part of an apricot hamentashen, and part of a poppyseed one. I had waited for it alllll day.... and by the time I let myself have it, I had EARNED it! I knew I could have it and still be within my nutritional ranges.
I guess also because you count everything that goes into your system, I really have not been successful at that. Also I think I have the "not eating too late" thing in my mentality for the moment because I had some digestion problems the last year and I feel maybe what I was eating before I retired at night sometimes aggravated that.
I definitely believe in a reward for yourself though and glad you can still enjoy the things you like with minor adjustment. Keep it going Molly!
God, just give me cinnamon crunch bagels from Panera (basically a sugar covered bagel) and mashed potatoes and I could be happy all winter. My carb cravings go into overdrive during the winter months.
I still read lj every day but post with much less frequency than before.
