Does anyone know how much the ticket is for getting caught riding the trolley without a ticket?

Much more than the $5 it costs to ride the trolley and bus all day.

Section 2.6: Penalties

Any violation of Section 2.3 of this Ordinance shall be an infraction punishable by a fine not exceeding seventy-five dollars ($75), except that such a violation by a person, after the second conviction under the Ordinance, shall be a misdemeanor punishable by a fine not exceeding five

My girlfriend did it last night and got caught by 4 undercover transit police. I've never seen them go undercover for it. She got a citation but the guy was just like "you'll have to go to court and don't be surprised at the ticket fee because its a little steep"

Yeah, night seems to be when they generally check. I haven't seen any checking during rush hour times.
