Docs who take Medicare?

I reckon this is a long shot, but I'm looking for a GP/Internist/family doc in the "East-ish County" area (La Mesa, Spring Valley), who accepts Medicare, and I'm having a difficult time ( Read more... )

you can find a doctor on the medicare website and search by zip code. Sorry that's all the help I have to offer.

Thanks. That's where I started, but the info there is really out of date. Docs drop out of the Medicare program completely, but no one removes their names from the database. One of the names I got from their site ended up being a doc/clinic in Grovetown that had been closed down -- because they were being investigated for Medicare fraud! Charges were filed, it was on the news ... but no one removed the name from the database.

At some points, it's almost funny! ;->

Call 2-1-1. That is what they're there for. They can recommend providers and know which ones take medi-medi.

Hmm, never used 211, maybe I'll give that a try.

I was hoping maybe someone would have a personal rec, but if not, that sounds like a decent search option. Thanks!

Back in August, I hooked up with an outfit called Care First. The doctor I had been seeing prior to that, at another clinic, was in their system, so I picked them.

I don't know if any of the clinics listed here http://www.fhcsd.org/locations/ will work for you, but if not, they might be able to refer you to a place that does.
