Priorities, people!
While most of the news outlets are navel-gazing about 9/11, an event that is only of particular significance today because five revolutions of our planet around the sun have occurred since it happened... NPR carried a story this evening about the permafrost in northern Siberia, which is thawing out for the first time in 40,000 years.
This thawing is happening in Northern Canada and Alaska too, and probably everywhere else.
As it thaws, it releases methane, which could potentially double the amount of greenhouse gases in our atmosphere, causing global warming to accelerate even faster.
Now can we please focus our energies on what is really important?
