"One Week" has been on my mind since I tried to sing it, karaoke-style, at my birthday party. That made me think, "Hmmmm--I should try to learn those lyrics." Guess I'll have to check out some more of their songs now, too. Hmmmm again.
Do I have your permission to express my undying love for you?
Sing that thing for me (on key), and I'll follow you to the ends of the earth and back.
Why am I so impressed, you may ask?
1) Well, theres the geek factor. I love all things geeky.
2) There's also the skill factor - you can work with rhyme and a very tightly proscribed meter and still sound cool.
3) I love Shreck - it's way high on my list of all time favorite movies - probably only one or two behind RotK.
4) I love the Barenaked Ladies. Very Much.
5) add to that the previously discussed Terry Pratchet factor, even to the point of having at least one of our top three favorite discworld characters in common (Vimes, I mean)
Your devotion is unexpected, deeply flattering, and accepted. :) (Is this how rock stars feel all the time?)
I guess now I need to try recording myself singing it. I do have good pitch, though my voice isn't very highly trained. I did try to sing it for Suzy and her hubby, and I got through it--barely. It's mainly a matter of running out of breath!
And when is someone gonna get around to inventing a teleporter? Grrrrumph!

Not sure how Shrek got mixed up into it, though.
