Got a call from the Medford Police about 10:45pm telling me that my car has been recovered. It is at a Towing Company in RI. They believe it has no (new) damage, and even has items still in it, but couldn't say for sure what those items were.

I am unfamiliar with how AAA Premium works, but taura_g suggests that someone with it could arrange to get the car ( Read more... )

Yes, AAA wants you where the car is to show your card to have it towed. AAA has 100 miles of free towing on the premium membership but it has to be your car or the car you are currently using so...

There are both bus and train options to get you down to Providence. Glad your car was found.

I was going to suggest bus/train. It's a very easy trek down and inexpensive, although possibly inconvenient to set aside time... except for that whole not having a car in the first place thing. South Station is a good bet: all the bus lines start there, plus Amtrak and Commuter.

We were looking at that last night... the ride from Boston to Providence is not bad but all the buses/subway/walking on either end made for a 3 hour trip.

He was going to call them today and see what kind of time frame he has.

Some things I have discovered.

1) The car is actually in Attleboro, MA, NOT Providence, RI. Apparently this towing company has multiple locations.

2) The Providence/Stoughton Line runs directly from South Station to less than a mile from where I need to be.

3) I'm getting dinged $24/day storage.

Since the Towing Co. is a 24 hr affair, I briefly considered going tonight and thus saving $24, but the timing to come back on the train gets dicey that late if it turns out the car doesn't drive. Unfortunately, the towing company is pretty serious about NOT trying to guess for me if it is drive-able.

Since that money piles up quickly, it seemed a fiscally sound idea to take tomorrow off to deal with this.
