Dear "Jane,"
You're not alone.
Not by a long shot.
You see, albeit with a few differences, I have been where you are right now, in that I am also a rape survivor. And I was sixteen years old when it happened. This is a wonderful letter. I honestly wish that I had seen something like this back in '89 after I drugged and raped over a period of five days. I came to in a hospital getting my stomach pumped due to alcohol poisoning. I tried to report my rape, but was laughed out of the police stations because as I was told "men do not get raped, men only rape". If it wasn't for my friends where I was stationed at in the Army, I honestly have no idea how I would have lived with what happened to me ( ... )

My husband has pointed out to me more than once that men can also be emotionally and psychologically abused by women. Thankfully, we have a very loving and stable relationship, and have been helping one another to heal the wounds we garnered under previous douchebag relationships. :)
