I probably should add in more descriptions. Here's what I have for the Good School

The Good School : How Smart Parents Get Their Kids The Education They Deserve by Peg Tyre. Nonfiction. Education - This book has chapters on preschool, testing, class size, reading, math, time, teachers, and the perfect school. It covers key controversies and research from the point of view of how this can help parents get the best education for their children. The focus is on the practical - what should parents look for and what questions to ask, with lists of “Silver Bullet Questions” and “Takeways” Too basic for me but just right for parents.

Another friend recommended The Night Circus. Is it scary?

Not at all scary. More of a contest between two magicians whose protogees, and proxy contestants, fall in love. It has wonderful descriptions and real magic, even though I think it was published as mainstream.
