Still late.

Physics of the Future: How Science Will Shape Human Destiny and Our Daily Lives by the Year 2100 by Michio Kaku. Nonfiction/science.  Hardback 416 pages. I liked this book more than most science nonfiction.  There are enough ideas for a dozen SF novels.

Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother by Amy Chua. Nonfiction. Memoir/education. HB 256 ( Read more... )

science, sf, reading, science fiction, reviews, books, nonfiction

Interesting take on "Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother." None of the other reviews or mentions of this book have your take. Me, I'll believe you, a flesh-and-blood person whose opinions I respect.

I'd love to read "The Highest Frontier." It sounds like a lot of fun and I know the author knows her biology.

And I'm glad to hear that "Dune" stands up. It's on my short list of things to reread if I ever get off this damned medication that doesn't let me concentrate well enough to read novels.

At one point, the mother is criticizing the father for being too soft on the kids and then shifts to talking about the dog. "And . What are your ambitions for ?"

The book is very much a picture of an over-the-top mother.

Yes, Highest Frontier is on my Hugo recommendation list
