Everyday Wicca

Aug 20, 2008 18:37

This week in studying Wicca, I have read more from Scott Cunningham’s book Living Wicca. Today I learnt about finding the spiritual nature in our everyday lives. Wicca doesn’t stop with ritual, meditation, and lighting candles. Although we feel most magical then. The Goddess and God are with us always, they are in the heart of cities, and in the ( Read more... )

Have you ever stood outside on a sunny day and with your head tilted to the sky, eyes closed, just feeling the warmth offered? You can do that for 30 seconds and instantly feel connected to both fire and the god as the sun is a symbol for both.

Cloudy day instead? Going to rain? Consider the fact that water and air are working together to produce rain to nourish the earth.

Just taking a nice deep breath is an easy way to feel connected. (Or just breathing in general.)

Do you live in a city or town? That makes a little bit of a difference when looking for things in your mundane life.

P.S. "writing about your Wiccan involvement" most likely just means keeping a journal. And guess what! You've got that covered right here!

Hi xSpiritChildx!

I live in a town, there are gardens with plants in them, but also a lot of concrete. We are lucky in onew way to have a beach, but the sea seems to cut us off from a huge band of countryside where there's a river cutting us off.

I like the idea of just breathing in the air, damp or warm, and noticing the God or Goddess. Thank you!

And yes, I've got the journal covered here! :)

Like usual, I agree with what spiritchild says.

And I think it's good for anyone, Wiccan or not, to spend a few minutes each day exploring the sacred. I know I try to.

Once you train yourself to pay attention (and it really is a matter of training yourself), just about everything becomes deeper, more sensual and sacred. A soft breeze against your cheek, the change in scent when you walk by a tree, the sound of rain cascading off a roof, everything.

I've always been a sensual creature, but since I began my "witchy training" my senses have deepened. (It's actually a matter of paying more attention.) It's absolutely amazing. I can smell when my husband is angry, unhappy, turned on, hyper, excited, etc. I can smell rain or snow coming. It's wonderful.

You can smell that about your hubby? I can smell when rain is coming, but wow. Not sure if I'd want to smell when people are angry as that would be all I smell in my household.

Well, keep in mind that I spend LOTS of time very close to my husband. I don't smell that stuff on a person unless I'm very familiar with them and spend a lot of time with them.

And that is icky that that's what you'd always smell in your household.

I usually have that time when I do my affirmations for the morning and evening. An even better treat is when I can get the time to get my chakra's all aligned and spinning, and/or going out and doing my fencing drills (not modern fencing classical renissance fencing) that usually gets me highly focused and balanced.

Pay attention for any synchronicity in your life. It will be there every day if you just notice it.

Once you start paying attention to that stuff, it never leaves you alone. *grins* It's EVERYWHERE.

LOL! A lot of people's synchronicity is actually seeing 11:11! The time you posted! ;) It's not mine, but I'm also on a synchronicity site and 11:11 and 33 seem to be the most popular recurring numbers for people.

Of course numbers aren't the only synchronicity you will notice. They just seem to be the simplest.
