I started this when I got home from work and read it all in a gulp.

This is fabulous and heart-breaking. John reads true like the fumbling, flawed person that loves his sons so much. Having sat vigil at hospitals, I know how kind and consciencious the staff can be. Valerie is a great outsider point of view.

That young couple - my heart aches as I wonder what their story could be.
