I just checked that last post to see if at any point I uttered some suitably jinxing phrase like 'I'd give anything not to go to weightwatchers!' or 'I wish something would happen to stop me going to weightwatchers!' or 'I'd rather be cleaning up child vomit in the dead of night than have to go to weightwatchers'. Poor y'all. Just ignore your Mum on this one - you can only do this in your own time, anyhow. And the presents :-)

Yep! She just rang me back, not quite to apologize - she doesn't do those much - but to offer to do something practical (buy me new pillows - you don't want to know) to help. That means she's sorry for being rude. Bizarre as these circuitous family rituals may be, I still feel immensely relieved - I hate arguments, even implied ones.
