I haven't had the pleasure of being sick on any of my birthdays, but I did once get Pneumonia just in time for Summer to start.

When you're eight years old and just getting out of school for the year, being gravely ill for two months just makes you think the Universe has it in for you.

Wow, pneumonia? That's very harsh on an 8 year-old, you must've been incredibly ill. Yes, at that age even being sick for a weekend feels like eternity!

Having been ill for so many birthdays must be really troubling. I know that, as an emetophobe, associations with illness can be awful. It'd be horrible to have negative associations with your birthday! I think it'd really common to still feel poorly this soon after surgery.

Luckily, a lot of those illnesses (especially the earlier ones) did not involve any tummy bother.

I'm sorry your birthday didn't turn out as well as I was hoping it would for you and I'm sorry to hear you're ill. I'm glad you didn't go, though. You needed time to care for yourself and heal. Hoping you feel better very soon.
