Jack wisely knows that they don't have to "be" anything - except together.

Sam needs to use that lovely brain of hers to figure out that Mary Steenburgen is tall, slender, very blue of eye, and has a killer smile. Kinda like someone else Jack knows and loves...

He probably thinks "If only Mary Steenburgen were a blonde, she'd be even more hot!"

A friend just handed me that link, and I started melting from ♥ at the header... the fic reduced me to a squeeing fangirl.
That, was what had me in the first place.
He looked over at her, and she smiled. “Thank you, sir.”
“Lose the sir.” He said, turning his attention back to the movie.
“Sir?”
