How on Earth has it been that long since I last posted?! Time is running away with me. I’ll do a proper update tomorrow about uni and plays and stuff, but at the moment I’m posting to let you all know about something myself and mackenziegrace have been working on. Ages and ages ago, I posted this rant about the state of Sci-Fi magazines. Since then, myself ( Read more... )

Yes to the passion!

Yes to the excitement!

Yes to the pride!

Yes to the ambition!

Yes to collapsing in an unmerciful heap on my bed and trying to block out the sounds of the houseparty downstairs!

Am so frelling happy that we're getting this on the road at last!

Oh man, the zine! I totally feel like writing something about XF, but I don't know what. Do you know the kind of tone you want your zine to be? Really proper or casual or what?

I think we're gonna aim for a mixture of both. So hopefully some serious, thought-provoking articles and some lighter and silly stuff. Because we're hoping for a wide range of topics and people getting involved, the tone is bound to be really hard to place, so basically, write whatever you feel confortable with.

Say, could you tell me again what made you pissed off in the beginning that made you start the zine?

Basically, that I couldn't find a magazine that accuratly reflected the way I saw online fandom - nothing represents it anywhere as a culture, for want of a better word. And also that a particular article I read on XF had hundreds of mistakes in it. It annoyed me that someone had just been paid to write an article that they clearly knew nothing about, and we, as fans, were supposed to buy and read this, with the feeling that it was aimed at us. Why can't the fans write about what they know, what they care about, rather than letting someone else tell us? That's a vague idea of what was going through our heads.

I was thinking about the zine earlier, obviously something was telling me that you want to really get going on it. I feel a bit bad for not thinking about it sooner :/ Hokay, how about a brainstorming session and then I'll get back to you with any half decent ideas, yes? I have one idea at the moment but it's omg so huge and vague but it would be brilliant if I could just clarify it somewhat. I'll let you know when I have it in some conveyable (is that a word?) shape. I'm just not sure what sort of tone I'm going for; silly and fangirly or somewhat serious and deep. But, it's very much SPN/Heroes centric. The doomed hero's always a popular theme isn't it? I may need help not turning this into a mammoth essay :s

Don't feel bad, myself and Mary have been completly tied up with stuff and let it rest for a while too. We just think that now is time for a kick start. ;)

I'm very intriged! Can't wait to see what you've come up with.
