In which I am a bit scared

Nov 01, 2011 22:23

This morning I twitted that I had a coldsore. I got a PERSONAL response from lloyds pharmacy recommending me a product. Is that someone's job now? To search for people complaining about coldsores then through advertising directly at them? The message began "Hi Sam, oh no!". WTF WTF WTF?! I'm deeply concerned about this turn of events. It's ( Read more... )

Okay, that is just beyond creepy. And having the guts to address with "hi Sam" as if you know them... Ugh. Bad vibes.
If it were me, I'd never buy from that company again, or at least send an email telling them how creepy and invasive this kind of advertising tactic is.

- Those DW videos OMG YES!
I've been playing them over and over these past few days to cheer myself up :)
They're so awesome!

(And I think it also kind of shows what is missing from the current DW, at least for me. That light-hearted silliness, and something else I can't quite name... I miss it.)
(Not saying series 5&6 aren't good, they ARE)

I know what you mean about DW. I LOVE Matt Smith and the current Who, but I really miss Tennant and the old crew. They've just...gone, completely wiped, with the exception of River, and I miss them like crazy.

I'm staying more and more away from Twitter and Facebook just because of creepy stuff like that. And salesmen who take the liberty of using my first name get a really cold reply from me.

This documentary sounds good, I will check it out. How is Pullman linked to Paradise Lost?

I'd never heard of a light box. Sounds like something I should have.

Thanks again for the help, yesterday. :)

Mouah.

His Dark Materials is effectively a retelling of Paradise Lost. Pullman pulled very strongly on it, and also on William Blake's work.

That's the light box I have, but you can get stronger and more simple ones that just switch on and off like a normal lamp. I thoroughly recommend for this time of year, it makes a huge difference when the skies are like they have been the past few days.

Creepy, but sadly not really surprising. Most companies have detected that social networks are the place to advertise if they want to reach the generation "I live on my computer, because RL is too hardcore", but addressing you by your first name really takes the cake! :(

Hope you're feeling better by now! ♥

I've considered getting a light box myself, since I have only heard good things about them, but they are so damn expensive. Maybe it's time for some research again , though.

They are really expensive, sadly. My parents brought me mine as my Christmas present last year, and IMO it is well worth it.
