In which Sam worries she exists in her own little world and nobody else is following the same tune

Am I the only person in the entire country truly horrified by the death of Mark Speight? It might be because I have no TV and little internet, therefore my perception of what's making the news is a bit lopsided, but it just seems nobody cares. And I care. I'm so devastated for him. I have many British LJ friends a similar age to me, they can't ( Read more... )

WHAT? WHAT WHAT WHAT? HOW DID I NOT KNOW THAT HE WAS DEAD :(
OH I am so shocked by this news. I used to sit and watch SMart like...as often as I could. OMG, that's like...he was part of my childhood :( Oh no, that poor poor man! :(

He's been missing for a week. They found yesterday in an office block which is being refurbished. He had hung himself, his body was there for 6 days. It's beyond horrible.

Meh, I hadn't seen that particular SMG shoot, but I knew she had done a few of them.

I think what unsettled me about the GA shoot is that I know she had done lots of them in the past, but then she said in an interview she wouldn't do them if she had her time again (did I make that up? I'm sure I read that). Then she does these. And for me it's not so much she played a feminist icon, it's that she self-identifies as a feminist. I really, really don't want to go down the route of 'you're a bad feminist/not a feminist because you did this', because I really hate all that stuff, but I'm just puzzled by the decision, really. I'd like to see the interview that went along with it.

I had a feeling that this was how it was going to end up for him, it's so sad, especially because both his and his fiance's deaths were so avoidable, it's a terrible waste.

Maxim was the magazine I was telling you abouy, who did the Least Attractive Women poll a while back, so I can't help being disappointed Gillian posed in that mag (even if the photos are incredibly hot).

I had hoped he was getting through it, but obviously not. Their poor families.

I thought it was. I'm just...puzzled, I think. And a little unsettled. I'm working hard not to judge because I think judging her for it is wrong on a variety of levels, but I do wonder why she chose to do it. Part of me wants to go to Haven to see if it's been brought up. I think I must be slightly sadistic!

But yeah, there is no denying how gorgeous she looks. Def. not in dispute! ;)

This is going to sound a little cold, and you're free to kick my head in for this, but I kind of gave up on Gillian as a feminist role model a while ago, there were just too many contradictions with my own beliefs.

There's no doubting she's a strong and individual talent of course, and if she still thinks of herself as a feminist that's great, but....yeah lol, that thought got away with me there.

You should write to her and ask her why she did. Cause I know that you really care and really wonder why and I think it's worth at least asking. I love you for caring btw.

See above brief explanation to Katie.

GA posed for pictures in the new edition of Maxim. It's been all over my f-list, I'm surprised you haven't seen them. Just look for the posts with flailing lust all over them, lol.

SMart is a hugely popular kids show that has been going for years. He was an immensely talented artist, it's such a tragic waste, both of them.
