Your comment about Sam's hair made me think of John, actually.
As we saw, Young!John was a clean-cut kind of guy. As we know, Older!John didn't really give a damn about his appearance. He was consumed with vengeance and hunting.
Sam used to care about appearance; as the series goes on, and he gets more and more craving for vengeance, he suddenly doesn't seem to care if his hair's cut oddly or a little greasy. I wouldn't be surprised if he starts to forget to shave soon.
And, dude, MITCH PILEGGI FTW! (The demon/grandfather.) HE IS AWESOME! And I'm so glad he kept the mannerisms. I still miss Frederic, but I can live with Mitch. :D
I loved this episode REAL hard, but I did miss Sammy :( I have a feeling the next one may be all Sammy with just a glimps of Dean ... or maybe not. You never know with this show!
I hate all the reactions saying they hated it because there was no Sam - there is an ep coming up with little to no Dean, as well. I don't knkow if it's next week, though.
