So, when Non died, and they were giving away her stuff, I was like "Oh, if its not too much trouble, I'd really REALLY like this".... now my mum is doing it with bob's stuff, and I am the first to post, so I posted, "yes. I'd like THIS"...

I just feel so... greedy?

Why do u feel it is being greedy? If u can put it to good use it is just practical. I would think if it was not what your mom wanted she would not have posted it. right?

Greedy would be taking possession of the stuff so you could sell or profit from it. If you're taking things because they have special meaning for you, better in your hands than Goodwill or something.

When my grandfather died all I wanted of his was a ceramic sea serpent I always liked as a kid(and he wouldn't let me play with), I've seen them around the antique stores, it's not worth anything, its just something that kind of cool that reminds me of him.

I completely understand. I've felt the same way when my grandparents died, and when Ivy died. It feels...a little like graverobbing, which is creepy and uncomfortable, and I had to keep telling myself over and over "They would want their things to be with someone who it meant something to. They would want someone they loved to be getting enjoyment out of it."

::hug:: You gotta shove the feeling down hard for now, because later one, you will be incredibly happy that you have those little things that remind you of him, and the creepy, greedy feeling will absolutely pass. If you let it prevent you from speaking up now, you will absolutely regret it later.

IMHO, it all depends on presentation. If you pre-emptively strike with "I want that, I want this, I want those"...yeah...it might seem a little greedy. On the other hand, if your approach is more like "I always had a fondness for that, and i could put this to good use", etc, etc... well...that just makes sense.

Hey, if you can'g get their corpse to preserve and prop up on a chair in the corner; getting their stuff is the next best thing.
