Back in October of last year I paid a visit to the Gansong Art Musem (간송미술관) in Seongbuk-gu, northern Seoul. When my Dad opened his own restaurant in Coloane, there was a pathway that led to a peacock den (it was part of a bird-sanctuary scheme, I think). There were the normal green/blue peacocks, and white peacocks as well! I always thought the albino peacocks were just regular peacocks as well, until a couple of the foreign managers mentioned they have never seen or known the existence of an albino peacock.

This ex-restaurant/bird sanctuary place is now a mini zoo which I should go visit one of these days :D

According to a quick internet search it seems that albinism has been observed in all orders of birds, although apparently with peacocks it's more likely that there's a white strain. This probably explains how the museum managed to come by four of them.

If you do visit the bird sanctuary / zoo again I'd be interested in hearing what you think of it. And, uh, I still need to find the time to visit Macau one of these days!

hehe, if you do, let me know and I'll dedicate my whole day to taking you around - as long as I'm able to take the day off.

Unfortunately, most of the national holidays in Korea fell on weekends this year, which means no long weekends for travel. From what I remember things won't be very promising next year, either. I'll let you know if I do plan on dropping by you way, though! Guess I should also look up the visa requirements for Macau ...
