A Throat Surgery and Brief Thoughts on How We Sound

Last week our academy vice-director came to the teacher's office to tell me that one of my students had recently received throat surgery and asked me not to call on her to speak in class if it could be avoided. She didn't mention the reason for the surgery although, considering how my student is in the fourth grade, it may be from a tonsillectomy. ( Read more... )

That video was hilarious!

I wish I could show it to my students. Actually, what I'm really looking for is something to make them less superficial. I don't know if it's Korea, or just being 17, but they are overly judgmental about physical looks and make terrible comments whenever I show any multi-media.

It's all I can do to not tell the commenter, "look in a mirror. Jerk." But I can't, because I've never seen so much self-loathing in all my life.

This is not good or healthy...and I hope they grow out of it.
