Daewonsa (대원사): Korean Temple Series

Mar 02, 2009 23:27

Continuing on from where I left off a long time ago in this entry, here are some photos from Daewonsa. It's the next temple after Migasa if one uses Mangwolsa Station as their entry point for Bukhansan National Park. Trying to find information on the temple is rather difficult though, as pretty much everything leads to a more well-known Daewonsa in the south of the country. On the other hand, the popularity of the other temple does mean that it was easy to find the Hanja and meaning of the temple's name. Daewonsa (대원사 in Korean) is written as 大源寺 in Hanja and can be translated as Great Source Temple. However, having multiple temples with the same name does make me wonder what "Great Souce" is a reference to.

In any case, here are the photos I took.
