Sam handed Sam the cup of coffee Sam had left behind. Sam sniffed it, wrinkled her nose and set it aside. "I don't know how Sam drinks that stuff..."
Sam smiled. "It didn't smell too bad to me."
"Give it to me, Sam," Sam said. "I'm parched."
Sam rolled her eyes and noticed the odd one out at their table. "Sorry," she said sheepishly. "You must be bored to death."
Janet Fraiser smiled, the flush in her cheeks deepening. "Are you kidding? I'm having lunch with five Sam Carters. I just wish I had a video camera."
Every Sam blushed.

After Makepeace had been revealed as a traitor, they'd been effectively shut down while the NID performed a 'routine investigation.' Her lab was off-limits, so she couldn't even play with her naquadah reactors. She carried her lunch to Jack and Daniel's table and dropped into her seat with a 'hrumph.'
Jack looked solemnly at her for a moment before he parted his lips in a smile. An orange wedge was pressed against his teeth and he waggled it with his bottom lip. Sam couldn't help herself. She bowed her head and laughed out loud.

A hand came up, cupping over her eyebrows and she spoke to someone standing beside her. When she looked back to Sam, she tucked her bottom lip into her mouth and raised her eyebrows. She wanted to touch Janet, stroke her hair and taste those lips again...
Fifth entered the room and she returned her hand to its former state.
"What are you doing?" he asked.
Eighth stroked the thumb that had formed Janet's cheek. "Nothing."

She woke up screaming some nights.
She would rush to the bathroom and dry heave, splash her face with water, try and get the images out of her mind.
She and Eighth had only shared a brief contact, but it had been long enough for her to plant a virus. Slowly, the virus had unraveled in Sam's mind, showing her all the hellish things her double had done. Murders, betrayals, lies, deception...
It was her. Her face, her memories, her training. It had learned betrayal from Fifth, who had learned it from her.
It was her.
It was her fault.

Concussions, hairline fractures, burns on the hand, burns on her legs.
So many injuries in the course of her time at the SGC. She'd been killed, she'd been shot and stabbed. But even though it was the most dangerous posting she'd ever had, she always knew the moment it was okay.
It was okay when she opened her eyes and saw that familiar ceiling, saw Janet smiling down at her. Then, and only then, did she let herself relax.
Janet always made it better.
