The Adventures of Tintin

...is what the new Sherlock Holmes movie meant to be.  A whirlwind tale of adventure and mystery!  But where the Holmes movie was opaque, mystery-free, and visually exhausting, Tintin is a true visual delight.  If you love dance, or motion, or the freedom of inspired animation, then yes, Tintin.  The main character is a stretch for me.  I'm not ( Read more... )

The Tintin movie really doesn't appeal to me for some reason. Maybe it's the scary, blank eyed animation a la The Polar Express (enough to give any child nightmares). I've very fond memories of the comics though, which were a fixture in the library, back in my school days.

Understood. I had no interest either until I heard a film critic talk about how his face hurt from smiling when he watched. I didn't notice the animation being especially blank-eyed (although I do find the life-like half cartoon/half human drawing style takes a few minute to get used to), but then Tintin himself is the least interesting guy on the screen most of the time. Especially (*cough*) when the Schnauzer's onscreen.
