Funny how things work out, mm-hmm. I stopped by the old man's noodle cart on my way home from a sort of house call on Sunday. The hours I put in, the little wife knows it's no good putting dinner on the table, and noodles is always cheaper than a wasted roast ( Read more... )

Hey, Doctor.

Sorry for asking in an old journal entry, but I wasn't sure how else to reach you.

I really just had to ask you something that was...brought to my attention and I know that if anyone will, you will give me an honest answer, dude. It's actually not very easy to ask cause I already know the answer. I just want a little confirmation.

How long do domestic cats live? On average?

I just can't get it out of my head and I really needed to ask someone. I can't bring myself to look for the answer.

Well, I'm not a veterinarian, son, but...

It looks like the average is fourteen years, mm-hmm. But there're reports of hardy twenty-five, thirty year old cats, so don't lose heart.

Son, have a look at the chart on the bottom of this site here. "Exceptional old age, but becoming increasingly common in both species." That sounds pretty optimistic, mm-hmm.
