DENOUEMENT
Denouement is a group of individuals (with varied motivations) who are primarily set on two things: war between the countries, and money. They sow terror, fear and panic through use of bombings, assassinations, bribery and other means. Most who initially enter into Denouement do it for the money, offered a small fee to deliver a package or put a few words in someone's ear. These profits can be obtained at any step of the chain, though they of course increase as members move up into higher positions. This is a prime reason for many to join Denouement.
Those who rise beyond the mediocre and show a greater desire for power and influence are usually offered that as well. Anyone who rises to this level will easily discover that the bombings and other things are no mere random acts; they are specifically aimed at bringing war between ships and between the countries. Anyone looking for the motivation behind this will find that money, in this case, truly does make the world go round. Various investments and preparations - primarily by a group that funds Denouement 'the Philosophers' - are all posed to make a killing, literally and figuratively, in the event of war.
As mentioned briefly above, Denouement's purpose for many of its members is to create a profit through persistent tensions between the two nations of Ivona and Vohemar. This tension leads to a number of economic factors that certain factions within Denouement find profitable. To date, growing animosity between the two countries has led to increased taxes, and the most important of these taxes come in the form of tariffs. Tariffs can, at times, effectively stop all trade between the countries, forcing people to buy from local companies, who in turn increase their prices to gain enormous profits.
When faced with such prices many turn to the black market, the Boston Market. Denouement is deeply ingrained in this market as well, buying and selling its own products. They effectively control much of the legal market and the illegal market, making them a formidable capital machine, and tensions between the countries maintain this power. Some in Denouement strive for all out war so that they might be able to sell arms and airships to both countries.
For the average member, Denouement is a freelancing sort of job, to be called on as needed. It provides a good way for its lower members to earn supplementary income to their job in their everyday lives. As members move up in the chain, Denouement becomes more and more a part of their lives. Due to their important positions outside of the organization, many business leaders will still hold positions in their jobs, but members of Denouement who are not as prominent in their every day lives will often join on as Denouement operatives full time, to be deployed everywhere and anywhere they might be needed. As can be expected, this is the higher paying end of the spectrum.
But, for some, Denouement is not about the profits; it's about the chaos that creates those profits. Denouement is the perfect outlet for people with certain... tendencies. They will accept almost anyone as long as that person is able to do the job.
Beyond that, it gets murky. To hear rumors about the ones who really call the shots, though, anyone would be hard pressed to believe this is just about money. The leaders are obviously sadistic, power hungry and have little care for wealth. They want power, some might even say they want godhood, or to just watch the entire world burn. The known head of Denouement, Delphine, is a ice queen and a terror you would never want to be alone with. Thankfully, you're unlikely to ever see her as even a high ranking member, she has her own ship that is sufficiently technologically impressive to fly much higher than most airships can manage, leaving her almost untouchable while she's in hiding.

To have a character join Denouement, you'll need to follow and understand our guidelines.
You can either apply into Denouement, or have an existing character join. Whichever method you pick, you have the option of either assuming it happened or roleplaying out the recruitment process, through which NPCs and possibly even PCs already in Denouement will give the character tasks to complete. Players are welcome and encouraged to carry out missions on their own that are assumed to have been given approval by Denouement, but missions that affect a wide range of people or a range of an entire ship crew or more will need to be run by us mods first. Anyone who carries out a mission asked of them will be paid for it, the rate of pay depending on the danger involved.
Anyone joining Denouement for the first time will need to carry out two to three missions before they have proved themselves enough to be considered a full Denouement agent. At this time, we will not allow characters to progress beyond the level of a trusted agent.
Denouement characters will have a nigh-unhackable journal filter that they can use to contact each other, and also a method of scrambling the information to prevent the other members from seeing who left the message - just use the [Filter] and [Scrambled] tags in your entry subjects for this. As always, no method of using the journals is foolproof, so be careful!
Please be aware that there is a large possibility of in-game consequences for being a member of Denouement. We trust the players involved to talk about how the plots they're in will go, but we will not condone anyone trying to constantly get away without consequences, no matter how skilled they are. Just be realistic, and remember that in RP, it can be just as fun to 'lose' as it is to 'win'.
