Room 420, Tuesday Morning

May 16, 2006 12:42

Dean picked up his phone and made the call he'd been putting off because he had wanted to make sure his temper was under control before he called.

"This is John Winchester. Leave a message."

"Hey, Dad, just how carefully did you check this place out before you sent us here? Because aside from all the other weirdness I told you about, guess who I ( Read more... )

She wasn't sure what it was, but something was pushing Sakurazaki toward room 420 after she tried to read and visited the hallway cafe. It was strange; she was feeling a little social, but there was something in the general chi of that vicinity that drew her toward the door. It wasn't necissarily a good feeling, but still...she had to get rid of it or else it would nag her all through the samurai's death scene.

She gentle raised a fist and knocked on the open door, only daring to peek a head in. "Hello?"

Dean raised his head and looked at the door and saw an unfamiliar girl standing there. "Hi," he said, sitting up on his elbows.

"I'm Sakurazaki," she says, stepping a little further in but still practically clinging to the door frame. "I thought I'd come over, say hello. I saw the door open. It's pretty bad that there's still people on my own floor I haven't met yet..."

"Tell me about it. I figure I'm still going to be meeting people when the summer's over." He sat up and swung his feet over onto the floor. "I'm Dean."

She leaned on the door with a smile and her wiry arms crossed over her chest. "It's nice to meet you, Dean-san." She liked that name, it was very simple and easy. "Done anything interesting since you got here?"

"Aside from dating, sparring, facing down demons and meeting my double?" Dean grinned. "No, not much."

She chuckles softly. "I think you've got me beat, definately. But you spar? That's good; I'll have to remember that. I've been going a little crazy without any regular training. I'm sure that, once the workshops start, I'll be satiated, but maybe we should try each other some time. Are you trained in any particular style?"

The more she talks, the more it becomes evident that they've ventured into her territory.

"Not really. It's always been more of a case of 'whatever works' with us. What about you?"

"Shinmei Style, Kyoto division." The excitement of being able to pronounce it proudly almost dispells her disappointment. Doesn't anyone around here train properly. "Mostly swords and wind attacks. But because of the school's rule on swords, I haven't been able to practice that and have been trying to hone up on my martial arts. And range attacks, so I'm taking the karate and archery workshops this summer. What're you taking?"

"Karate and archery," Dean replied with a grin. "Also leadership and the outdoors and sex ed. Gotta have something that's just for fun."

She smiled, happy to know (well, kind of know) another person in one of her classes. It always made it a little easier. "I'm taking documentaries for fun," she replied, with complete sincerity. A moment later, she realizes, her little eyes getting a little wide. "Wow. That doesn't sound like fun at all, does it?"

"Guess it depends on the documentaries," Dean replied, though privately he'd go with sex ed over documentaries any day. Well except maybe if they were documentaries about sex, then he might be tempted.

"...I guess so."

She considers briefly mentioning her other workshop, but she'd rather not go into the whole Arts and Crafts explaination thing again, and the end of that book was filtered back into her consciousness again.

"Well, I just wanted to stop by and say hello." Sakurazaki smiles. "It was nice meeting you, Dean-san. We'll have to spar sometime before workshops so I can see what you've got." The smile morphs into a slight grin.

"Sure," Dean replied. "Nice meeting you too, Sakura- Saku-... I'm just going to call you Saku so I don't make a fool of myself okay?"

She winces. The conversation she had earlier has come back to haunt her immediately. Nice.

"Um," she says, right before heading out the door. "If you can't get Sakurazaki, I'd really prefer just Setsuna...That's my name name, I guess you'd say. I've had a lot of formal training; I'm not used to going by name names." Although her stomach turns as she asks it.

She's really just going to have to get over this. But old habits die hard.

"Okay," Dean agreed. "Setsuna it is."
