The ricochet bullet episode of MythBusters is currently on, and this viewing of it confirmed my belief that it would have been physically impossible for Tara to have died. The bullet would have had to bounced off at least two points at minimum, although three would be much more plausible. There might have been enough energy left for it to have hit

That aside, I've recently begun wondering how things would have been different the last season of Buffy if Willow had been shot and killed instead.

Hmm... That's an interesting idea. Don't think that I would've missed Willow very much.
