yeah...i'd have to side with your mom for (the white man's) new year's. i'm getting sentimental in my old age. if i could fluently talk with my grandparents, i'd visit so much more often :( being born in america has stripped me of any sense of family identity...
did you already have your last day here?
dilemma du jour is no dilemma. just interview for it. it's not like you are immediately bound by legal contract to go once they offer...if you accept the offer and then go somewhere else, then you're in trouble. they probably keep a waitlist of candidates anyway.
would you be a good forest ranger? that'd be an awesome job. much fun.
I'm going to visit them regardless; it's just a question of which week (aka the one w/ New Year or one of the ones without). But yeah...I'd feel bad if I don't spend New Year there.
I'll be at work tomorrow/today/Friday.
I actually have no idea what a forest ranger does. I imagine it involves lots of walking around in nature, looking at distances and trees and green things. Hence, good eyesight.
haha, i'll be madly finishing up my EE 214 project (the stanford analog IC design class...the backbreaker of a grad student class) in my office if you want to drop by the 3rd floor and visit. actually, how about lunch in the breakroom at noon, with ping pong? if you're there that early.
i was a boy scout, so i know a little about what they do. they're involved with park maintenance, dealing with visitors, checking up on licensed campers (temporary licenses, etc), patrolling, animal tracking (i think), vegetation control, etc. i think i'd like that as a break from the world.
