The first of those is admirably cynical, but I always felt that it was rather unfair. Kirk's standard instruction always seemed to be "phasars on stun".

Could be worse, there's an old song my mother used to sing that I occasionally find myself unthinkingly warbling.

"Roll me over, in the clover, roll me over lay me down and do it again..."

(My mother. Truly.)

Not exactly the thing to enhance one's professional image if the warbling's at work...
