Comfort is good. There are definitely books I retreat to when I need comfort (Narnia is always good)

Absolutely. This is the literary equivalent of a kneerug, cocoa and a nice rest by the fire... to be fair, it's better written than a lot of both the genres it touches on.

That sounds like a fun book to read on a cold day. I should think the author would be very happy you keep on enjoying it so much.

Also good for when I'm feeling just a bit off, and need an uncomplicated path to imaginary but more comfortable worlds :)

As someone who's also been desperately looking for a Heyer substitute, I'm jotting the name of this one down! I mean, anything even halfway decent and reasonably amusing will do...

And you're right - that is a lovely cover.

It may be hard to track down, I don't think she was ever a big name.... but I do like it :)

You would think that given their popularity there would be more writers emulating Heyer, but her lightness and wit are hard to do...

I can find second-hand copies pretty cheap on Amazon, so not too bad if I ever want to give it a try. :-)

I know - she made it look easy, but it's actually pretty difficult to pull off. But you would think so - and not necessarily even in the Regency, just witty, light, romantic comedies!
