It was a painfully obvious lure, and Seto was about ready to walk straight into it. It irritated the brunet....but it wasn't stopping him from going, either. Atem's teasing and his own pride saw to that. The other wasn't going to criticize him for how he spent his time and get away with it.

Long slender fingers drummed irritably against his own leg for a moment, before Kaiba set his jaw and walked straight into the empty classroom. He didn't bother to check and see if Atem was otherwise preoccupied, of course. He was the Principal. He could do as he pleased, no matter how the other might tease. Kaiba had said so himself, before.

"You still humor them far too much. They would not be nearly as rowdy if you had started getting a handle on their behavior at the start of class," he remarked boldly as he walked into the classroom with a cool, appraising look. It never hurt to always look like he was doing evaluations.

No students had shown up yet and maybe none would today. It seemed the day was just about to get that much better as he heard the principal's dull and overused speech thrum through the air of his empty classroom. A smirk came to his lips, but he didn't pull away from his work just yet.

"No one is here, Kaiba." The smirk was clear in his tone. Of course he wasn't implying what Seto was doing was an act, the principal did have a job to do, after all. But appearances were just that, and Atem wasn't fond of them when he could so easily push the underlying reasons.

Kaiba's eyes narrowed. "You assume I would say something different?" he said, through his leg did swing back to kick the door closed. Not that it was really necessary, besides keeping students out of his business. It wasn't likely they would find anything of interest here anyway. Of course not.

"Perhaps it is simply concern over you, Mr. Mutou," he continued as he stepped a little further into the room. "Most schools are looking for instructors that are a bit...less eclectic than you. If I am forced to remove you for your failings...I wonder how much success you would have trying to go elsewhere."

Atem did look up when he heard the door shut so abruptly. Crimson moved from the door and up to Seto's own eyes, a delicate eyebrow arching into his blonde bangs. "Are you threatening me, Kaiba?" He asked, standing from his desk and leaning against it, arms crossing over his chest.

"It's not like you to give warning calls to those you're about to fire. Usually you just get on with it. I wonder if you're really so attached to me that you'd hate to see me go." He smirked faintly after saying this.

He's sitting at one of the desks in the corner trying to focus but it's a lot harder to write with one eye and he hasn't been forced to write with the eye patch in a while. His writing is sloppier than usual and it bothers him. He rubs at his eye but continues writing.

Of course Atem would notice this. He's noticed every time Ritsuka's sported a new bandage or heavy sweater or anything to that liking. But he's sure that if he presses the child will just draw back further, thus getting either of them nowhere.

Still.. he can't help that he cares. "Is everything alright, Ritsuka?"

He blinked when Atem was suddenly near him. He looked up at Atem and then away before giving a small nod.

Atem brought his arms up to cross over his chest as he glanced down at the boy. It was obvious Ritsuka would never really open up to him. As a professional that kind of stung, knowing that nothing he did could make the other oblige or even realize that he was cared for. But there wasn't much else he could do.

"May I ask... is that eye patch some new craze I'm going to be seeing around?" The question could have actually been serious coming from Atem. He certainly didn't keep up with all the kid's crazy fashions these days.

Thats a good look on him (you probably drove Kaiba crazy ;-)) i_am_kagome June 2 2010, 00:35:03 UTC
Kagome sat in her usual desk in Mr. Mutou's classroom. She was busy trying to complete Mr. America's homework. After another URG and some scratching out, she threw her book into her backpack and took out her math homework. She was meeting with Neji and she wanted to surprised him with her knowledge. After a squeal and a "I don't understand any of this" she slammed her head into her book and muttered "I am soo stupid!"

The first thread in, yes Atem is driving Kaiba crazy XD note_atem June 2 2010, 00:40:09 UTC
"You're not stupid, Kagome." Atem answered from across the classroom. He was busy grading papers and keeping his mind forward on his job instead of ... other things. He wasn't sure what the girl was working on, but whatever it was wasn't cause for her to be self deprecating or shouting about it.

Doesn't take a lot does it? XD i_am_kagome June 2 2010, 00:47:49 UTC
She didn't lift her head right away because her cheeks were on fire. Usually, she thought her doubts, so realizing that she said them out loud caused her to blush and feel about five inches tall. After lifting her head up a few inches, without looking at him she whispered "Says you."

Quite the contrary! It does take a lot of prodding. note_atem June 2 2010, 00:49:31 UTC
"Well I'm a teacher, so I would know, wouldn't I?" He teased, looking up from his grading to smile at her. He didn't think Kagome was stupid at all. She was one of the brightest kids in his class. She was focused and paid attention and generally a pleasure to have.

She smoothed her fingertips across the page of her text as her eyes trailed from Ritsuka to her teacher.

She knew her best friend and knew the signs of trouble past, when they appeared. That eye patch was one of those signs. A definite frown to the corners of her lips, as her heart grew heavy to the sight. She wish she could do so much more for her friend, but there was only so much that was healthy she could do. A simple solution may shatter his world, this abuse had become normalcy. She feared the day it was taken away. But she prayed for it to be soon. While he was still young, still ... new.

Even now, her eyes slid from the world outside and focused to the blur of textbook letters that spiraled into nonsense before her very eyes. She was drifting.

Atem was busy grading some papers for his morning classes. The stunt he'd pulled with Ritsuka had perhaps been too reckless. He knew he shouldn't push so hard. Study halls were always so quiet, despite that he allowed the students to talk quietly amongst themselves if they wanted.

He looked up, surveying the student base that had come in today. His study halls weren't exactly required either, but he liked to provide a quiet space for his kids.

Crimson eyes locked on the girl who seemed to be sitting very lax in her seat. "Are you feeling alright, Serenity?" He questioned quietly.

She flinched at her name, and her eyes rose to his own. A blink and she nodded before a quick glance over to Ritsuka then to her text book. She straightened her position in her chair and began to flip through the pages back to the point of the text where she was reading. Her pen-

was missing. Crimson eyes blinked and searched while she patted down her pockets and then inside her jacket. Finally spotting the pen a few feet ahead, on the floor. She slid from her desk to retrieve it. Walking back to her seat in a slow pace, as her wandering eyes scanned the other students in the class. A sigh as she sat.

What were they studying again? Mythology or.. she brought a hand to push fingers to her bangs. She couldn't focus on this right now.
