Advice needed

I just bought a copy of The Abducted Alchemist, the second Fullmetal Alchemist novel, by Makoto Inoue. It's a pretty good read (a little simplistic, but fun), but very early on in the story an event occurs in which Roy indicates to Ed to buzz off while they're in public, as he is chatting with a couple of pretty girls. I would just leave a note. If you explain that the English version came out in, 2006, there really isn't a possible way you could of known.

+ It doesn't seem that farfetched the situation, with Roy and Ed having a relationship where both sides try to irritate the other, and Roy's known womanizing patters.

Not to mention your writting style would probably be quite different from the novel.

You've already put into the disclaimer that you don't own the character,s maybe add to the disclaimer that your not making profit out of this, as well?

Its a cute and amusing story, it be a shame if it got lost from the wilds of the internet, though I'd understand why if you took it down. =/

Considering the number of people who right for shows in progress and then display wild glee when a plot twist matches their own fic... I think you have very little to worry about.

An A/N mentioning that this was written prior to the novel being translated and your becoming aware of the events therein wouldn't be a bad idea... but it's fanfiction, and as long as the events aren't identical, I see absolutely no difficulties.

... I mean, it's already copyright infringement. So it's more accurate than most? So what?
