UICC ICRETT Fellowships: Prolog
It started when my boss asked me to accompany a japanese from National Cancer Center Japan, Tokyo in October 2012. His name is Dr. Tomohiro Matsuda. Me and two my friends took him to Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, Jakarta. On the next day, he was the faculty in Seminar about Cancer Epidemiology in our institution. After the seminar, my boss did meeting with him (staffs only sitting and listening xDD). My boss said that she wanted me and one of my friend to study in NCC Japan. Because, in Indonesia is still very rare about cancer epidemiology study spesifically. Dr. Tomohiro Matsuda gave posistive respond and said that he would discuss with his colleagues first.
About 2-3 weeks after his visiting to our institution, he sent email to my boss. The email said that his colleagues gave the permission for staffs from our institution to study in NCC Japan. Then, my boss pointed me and my friend to study there!
Me and my friends were quite confused. Why? Because, OMG! We will study in Japan?? How come?? We are very beginner in this field! Ok, lets say, NO CONFIDENCE! Meanwhile i was happy because i could go to Japan, but i also PANIC! OMG~ i was afraid if my brain was OK to follow Japanese work speed. For several times i got nightmare hahaha.
Short story, me and my friend applied to The Union for International Cancer Control International cancer technology transfer fellowship http://www.uicc.org/node/12010 to have training in June 2013. But till June, we didn't get any information about our fellowship whether it was approved or not then after contacting the PIC of fellowship (just to know the info) we got confirmation that our fellowship was APPROVED! All life expenses were covered (^-^)v.
It was already June! So, we reschedule everything! So, the fellowship would be begin at 2Sept-4Oct 2013. Ah! I forgot to say. My host insitution is in NCC Japan, and my friend is in Osaka Medical Center.
On Jun's birthday, i flew to Tokyo~~ <3
