My grandmother has been hard-of-hearing since she was a child (but she never said anything and no one really ever knew until she was married & had kids), so we have had to shout at her sometimes when she has them out or they are in the shop. My grandfather refuses to have his hearing checked at all, so we always have to "speak up" around him (which is pretty much like shouting). We would drive you nuts, too. :-P
