It will never ever ever turn out well for that boy. Ever.

Ouch. Oh, god. Poor Hakkai.

And beautifully written, the part where he doesn't know his own name. Or why Mother is using it.

And poor Gojyo, sitting there, calling Hakkai's name and getting nothing but confusion back.

Aw, Hakkai. It's even more affecting because of having Gojyo right there, too, who's probably has similar fantasies at some point in his life.

This started out as Gojyo's fantasy, yup. Those two, man.

Oh god... That's so very sad and beautiful at the same time... The saddest thing is that this really would've been a possibility. Hakkai really would've accepted the child as nothing but his own, and he really wouldn't have cared the child was a half-breed. If only Kanan had believed in that...
But than, another half-breed would've lacked everything he needed even now, and would still be all alone.

Would he have, though, before meeting Gojyo? I think that's one of the things that makes their story what it is.

I really don't think he would have. But now that he has Gojyo, he can imagine, and damn/i> does the boy have an imagination.
