Thanks :) I wanted Hakkai to be up-front about his youkai!self, and of course he goes about it in the most rational, and also most crazy way. And that's what makes Hakkai, Hakkai. :)

Hakkai is nuts. This is a fact of life, and yet the layers upon layers of rationalisations he imposes on it make this fic hilarious. ^_^ Much love for the crazy here. I could almost hear him thinking like this.

"Now that my sanity no longer rests on the relative safety of these fashionable earpieces, what purpose do they serve? Only to reign in my physical appearance and prevent the skewering of Gojyo's beer cans? Hahaha, that also, is a very good question indeed." ---> this line killed me. And it's a perfect ending; provides an almost snapshot quality to this fic. Thank you for the read!

:) Hakkai is crazy. He's also the most rational of the group most of the time, and I love the contradiction there. Hakkai is a really fun mess of contradictions, and I wanted to explore the way he rationalizes and explains them to himself. Thanks for reading!

Wow, you really nailed the lecturing!Hakkai voice! The line What I have come to find, and I'm sure there are those that will disagree with me on this point, is that my youkai nature is not contradictory to my human nature at all. My youkai nature is rather, an...exaggerated version of my human personality and characteristics. Thus, the delicate balance between sanity and insanity that I tread as a human is exactly the same as when I transform into a youkai. was very interesting to me, as I had always wondered about that, and the way you put it made a lot of sense - after all, the evidence that his scariness is nothing to do with youkai nature is at leat 1000 cases strong, no?

Thanks! :) getting into Hakkai's head is very difficult for me, so I'm glad this worked! It was based on this idea tickling the back of my brain that maybe Hakkai's limiters don't really suppress the crazy at all, just the physical part...the rest of the insanity is just Hakkai. :)

I think that's probably an accurate theory!!

That was really well done. It felt so very Hakkai and it all made a wonderful kind of sense as well. It was funny and fascinating and even slightly moving (all characteristics of the man/youkai hiself).

Incredibly well done... I could totally hear him speaking the whole time. Like he was sitting down for an interview and tea.

Thanks! :)
Interview and tea were pretty much exactly what I was going for! I thought about putting in little notes about the atmosphere, what he was doing, etc. but it just didn't really feel right. So I'm glad that you liked the speaking voice!

also, icon!love, seriously.

I liked the Hakkai voice a lot in this ... it feels like he may have had a drink or so (well, it's Hakkai, so maybe 5 or 10 drinks ... ) too! And the point about his sanity in human versus youkai form is very well taken ... .
