Volume 6 is one of my favourite volumes, for some reason ^^. Maybe it's because we get to see Hikaru becoming a middle schooler (he feels so grown up in this volume

Having completely normal characters is what makes this series so great, I think. I don't think any of the autistic characters shown are savants, come to think of it.

And now that you mention it, I think Hikaru did use to think in pictures, because I can remember him going back to Oki-kun's house, after Oki moved away, and thinking about the shiny kitchen fan and then there was a picture of the fan (don't think it was in a thought bubble, though).

I guess at that stage Hikaru probably saw and thought everything in images.
