Someone Must Get Hurt and Unfortunately It Was Me

Mar 28, 2006 00:08

Today was my first day back from break. My day was good I think. It had some odd feelings to it. I got up and did my radio show. In hopes of seeing Tristan, I was slightly disapointed. By the time I got to the station, he was gone and left a sigor ros cd playing. Also, I had a weird surprise when I got to the station. My friend Ian was standing ( Read more... )

Gee, l hope you'll be able to sit down after this. Bronski Beat? Haven't heard that name in years, even though l saw ''Smalltown Boy'' on VH1 Classic around the holidays. As you know they were one of the first openly gay groups back in the day, but because Frankie Goes To Hollywood were better than them, they got lost in the shuffle. There was this one kid in HS who was a big fan of their's. But he got his share of hay-nanny so he couldn't be gay. Then again, he did dress VERY well, so maybe he hit from the other side of the plate when no one was looking.

i'm alright. i looove bronski beat. well, i don't think franky goes to hollywood was better. the lead singer of bronski beats' voice is either love or hate. i think he has one of the most soulful voices in new wave. the music is beautiful and very emotional.

interesting story about the kid from high school.

That's such a bitch about the article, I can't believe they'd do that, it's incredibly out of order. I guess there's not a lot you can really do about it now, it just seems so ridiculously unfair :o(

yeah it does seem unfair. but it's their lost. they published a shit story and i'm just happy i got to be so close to the band. i'm seeing them saturday so i'm sure it's going to be alright. i have thought long and hard about it, and i'm guessing they forgot that i was doing the story or that they really are idiots. i'm not sure which. i'm not going to point fingers now, because i still work for them. i plan on taking over the diversion's section haha. tomorrow night, i'm seeing the editors and that's going to be good!

i would totally send a copy of your article to the band or their producer or whatever, even if they never see it, you'll feel better about it.

have you tried submitting anything to av club in the onion?

Really sorry to hear they pulled the rug out from under you :( Have you tried submitting the i/v to any other places - maybe some online zine could use it or perhaps you could start your own & put up a page??? I know its time consuming but its worthwhile & bands DOOOO appreciate any exposure! (heck I know that first hand from my own website)

i might send it to an online zine. i'm feeling my way around to see who is interested. i wish i had the time to do a zine again or start a website. but that's a thought too!

btw, are you coming to the black cat saturday for their show??? letme know!

I think I'm gonna skip it because after the last few weekends (and all the meetings at work during the week) I really need to catch up on SLEEP!!!! Plus i need a good nights sleep saturday as I'll be getting more needles poked in my arm Sunday afternoon to do the finishing touches on my right sleeve :)

ok...so what I just read really pisses me off. i can't believe they stole your story idea. i can't remember if you told me that you had the band's numbers or email but you need to find it and tell them what happened and email them the copy of the article that SHOULD have been in the paper.

i have a friend that writes for spin.com. I will find out how you can submit the story there. And if they do accept it..make sure you add a few lines bashing the UMD paper!

i have their tour manager's number, but I'll be seeing them on saturday though! but trust me, i'm going to tell them what happened. adam and justin are awesome boys and would understand. if anything, the diamondback probably looked like a huge ass for doing a second interview.

oooo that's awesome! yeah i might bash the paper as a slight joke or something. either way, it's going to be awesome!
