I could not resist. I had to make some Grace and Grace/Rich icons. It had to be done. I needed a still icon of Grace taking off the fluffy hood (so adorable) and there were a couple Grace/Rich moments that I felt my icon collection would not be complete without, and yet I couldn't find just what I wanted for those scenes so...photoshop to the ( Read more... )

Nope, I haven't read that one. *looks it up on wikipedia* Hmm... The premise is too heavy/intense in a certain way, for me (right now, at least), so I think I'll give it a pass. I can see why you rec'ed it, though.

What do you mean?

A pity. This series needs more fans. Besides, it contains one the best SF/fantasy characters.

Basically, the series sounds greyer and darker than I care for (at this time, at least), and with not enough comedy to lighten the heavy. Anything that is super gray needs to have a goodly amount of humor in it (like "The Wire"), for me. Basically, I can only handle so much angst and grey/dark before it becomes not fun and over stimulating. And then there's the heavy focus on religious themes added to that, which adds to the heavyness, and I really want a lighter reading experience than this series looks to offer me. And it comes with a bunch of new jargon and mythology to learn (since it takes place in the far future and not on Earth), and I'm not in the mood for that kind of intensity, right now, either. It's like a triple threat of intensity.
